Andrich and Schick Goals Seal Thrilling Comeback
Bayer Leverkusen played a thrilling comeback by defeating TSG Hoffenheim 2-0 in their Bundesliga match at BayArena on Saturday. Both goals came late in the game, with Robert Andrich finding the net in the 88th minute and Patrik Schick adding another in the 94th.
The win saw Leverkusen extend their lead at the top of the table to five points over Bayern Munich. Hoffenheim, meanwhile, remain in eighth place.
Hoffenheim had the better of the chances in the first half, but they were unable to make the most of them. Andrej Kramaric missed a good opportunity early on, and Munas Dabbur also went close.
Bayer Leverkusen improved after the break, and they came close to taking the lead when Schick hit the post. However, they were unable to find a breakthrough until Andrich's late goal.
The goal came after a good move down the left flank by Karim Bellarabi. The winger found Andrich in the box, and the midfielder fired home a low shot into the bottom corner.
Hoffenheim pushed for an equalizer in the closing stages, but they were unable to find a way through. Schick then sealed the win for Leverkusen in the 94th minute with a close-range finish.
Bayer Leverkusen will be delighted to have come away with all three points. They are now in a strong position to win the Bundesliga title, and they will be confident of extending their lead at the top of the table when they face Borussia Dortmund next weekend.
